October in Review – Autumn Beauty and a Load of Pumpkins

Ah! October…what a gorgeous time of year!

The government shut-down temporarily closed the park, but it didn’t stop me from snapping some glorious shots of autumn near the old park entrance at Belton Bridge.

Our annual fall hike, to Mount Aeneas in the Swan Range, took us from autumn reds and yellows to winter white. Snow had come to the mountains; winter was on its way. A final stroll on the Sun Road, before it closed for construction, became a business meeting as we discussed interesting internet marketing options with another hiker.

My canning, storing, and freezing of vegetables was complete, except for the pumpkins. We harvested 37 of them. They became residents of our foyer as I crocked them one by one to be used in fall and holiday recipes. We discovered the joy of pumpkin fudge.
