Saint Patrick’s Day

Because tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day and leprechauns are a type of fairy or sprite in Irish folklore, which are often looking for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, I thought I’d talk a little about gold.

Sure, you’ve heard of the California Gold Rush but did you know that the Treasure State had a gold rush of its own?

Gold was discovered in Montana streams in 1853, but it wasn’t until around 1863 that rich placer deposits were discovered near Virginia City.

Montana is actually one of the richest gold producing states in the country.  In fact, some folks up here still have gold fever and use metal detectors for treasure hunting.

As for those mischievious little creatures lurking around looking for gold…..

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day
Till next time,
Marlene
